United Services secures ground handling
Agreement will reduce connection times for passengers from 75 to 35 minutes
CHICAGO, Monday, November 13, 2006 - United, today announced that it has secured a contract to provide ground handling and line maintenance services for Japan-based ANA (All Nippon Airways) at Chicago O'Hare International Airport. The one-year contract, which took effect October 29, includes customer service, ramp service, and cabin cleaning, in addition to line maintenance.
As part of the agreement, ANA's daily flight to Narita will depart from O'Hare's terminal one, making the transit through O'Hare easier for customers arriving on domestic connecting flights. Michael Gentile, Director-Ground Handling Services, United Services, advises that connection times will be reduced from 75 minutes to just 35 minutes.
"This contract shows the tremendous spirit of cooperation between ANA and United to work together to help make travel experience as seamless and enjoyable as possible for our Star customers," says Gentile. "Moreover, by selecting United Services, ANA has sent a strong signal of endorsement for our products and services."
ANA was founded in 1952 and has been a member of the Star Alliance since 1999, but United's relationship with ANA extends even further. Currently, United Services provides line maintenance for ANA at Washington Dulles, Honolulu, and San Francisco international airports. In addition, ANA leases United's Red Carpet Room for its passengers' use at Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris, and United purchases ground handling services from ANA at airports in Osaka and Nagoya.
"We're excited about the increased value this collaboration will bring to our customers and our airline's operations," says Naomichi Terazaki, ANA's Vice President and General Manager-Central Region USA. "In addition to easing the connection process for our passengers, we're also able to obtain both ground handling and line maintenance services from one source, further utilizing our partnership through Star Alliance."
United Services' Ground Handling currently serves more than 60 customers at more than 90 airport locations around the world, including London, Hong Kong, Buenos Aires, and Mexico City. Capabilities include customer service, ramp service, operations management, cargo service, and ground service equipment and facilities maintenance.
