United Services Secures Contracts for Engine and Landing Gear
Contracts highlight United Services' ability to provide one-stop shopping
for customers
CHICAGO, IL - MAY 24, 2006 - United Services, the maintenance and engineering division of United, today announced that it has secured several contracts that cover engine and landing gear work.
Under a series of contracts with Eagle Aviation, based in St. Nazaire, France, United Services will overhaul and perform ring-case modifications on several Pratt & Whitney PW4060 engines. These engines power three former United Boeing 747-400s, which the charter and wet lease operator is acquiring from another party. Work on one engine has already begun at United Services' Maintenance Center in San Francisco.
United Services will also develop a maintenance bridging document package that will transition the three aircraft from their former operator's maintenance program to the Boeing Maintenance Planning Document (MPD) for the B747-400.
Since we operated these aircraft for many years, nobody knows them better than we do," says Garth Petersen, managing director - Sales and Marketing, United Services. We are looking to develop a long-term relationship with Eagle Aviation and will support the operation of these aircraft at whatever maintenance locations they choose."
United Services also recently secured a contract with Mexico-based Azteca Airlines that includes the overhaul of a B737 landing gear set. Azteca serves primarily Mexican and U.S.-Mexico border destinations, providing both passenger and cargo services. United Services has 40 years of experience in landing gear overhaul and is equipped to handle B737, B757, and B777 gear sets.
We strive to provide a one-stop-shopping experience for our customers," says Petersen. Not only can they get complete MRO services for their engines, landing gear, high-tech components, and line maintenance needs, they also get peace of mind knowing we can provide comprehensive maintenance records to stand behind any former United aircraft, including those that we offer for lease or sale."
