United Airlines Names William R. Norman Senior Vice President - United Services
CHICAGO, IL - NOVEMBER 1, 2005 - UAL Corporation [OTCBB: UALAQ.OB], parent company of United Airlines, today announced the appointment of William R. Norman as senior vice president - United Services, the company's maintenance and engineering division.
Norman, who had been vice president -- Base Maintenance with extensive experience throughout the organization, will report to Peter D. McDonald, executive vice president and chief operating officer. He is replacing Gregory F. Hall, who has left United to seek other opportunities closer to his family in Oklahoma.
"We are very fortunate to have in Bill Norman an executive who has made significant contributions to the consistent high quality of United's maintenance operation while helping deliver substantial cost and efficiency improvements, and who will be able to continue to innovate and generate new revenue going forward," said McDonald. "Greg Hall has played an important role in transforming United's maintenance services, and we wish him well," said McDonald.
United Services provides for the maintenance of engines, landing gear, line maintenance and avionics, for United and a growing list of customers. It is an expanding revenue source for United, delivering high quality at competitive prices.
Norman joined United in 1984, and has held a variety of managerial positions, including vice president of line maintenance. In that role, he had responsibility for aircraft line maintenance worldwide, system aircraft maintenance control and United's flight test crews. Prior to joining United, Norman served as a mechanic for Pacific Express Airlines. He has a master's degree in industrial design from San Francisco State University.
