United Services, Alteon to Partner on Airbus Flight Training
Creating Efficiency and Value For Customers
CHICAGO, IL - MAY 5, 2004 - In its continued drive toward more efficient measures to service aviation training customers, United Services announced today a strategic alliance with Alteon Training L.L.C., a subsidiary of The Boeing Company, to expand Airbus 320 training services at United's Denver Training Center.
Alteon, formerly Flight Safety Boeing Training International, is the aviation training industry leader with a global network of training centers and solutions. Alteon and United are partnering to offer Airbus training to Alteon's extensive third-party customer base, and the two companies will combine resources to deliver the training.
Greg Hall, senior vice president - United Services, said the agreement reflects United's continued commitment to finding new and creative opportunities to use its technology and expertise on endeavors that benefit the entire industry.
"Essentially, this is a very complementary arrangement that extends the effectiveness of both Alteon's broad spectrum of quality training and United's well-maintained facilities and equipment," Hall said. "The combination brings significant value to the world's aviation training customers."
Under the terms of the agreement, Alteon avoids the significant investment in resources, such as costly flight simulators. United's Denver facility offers five sophisticated training devices for the A320 fleet.
Pat Gaines, president of Alteon, said the partnership significantly demonstrates the flexibility of both organizations in providing support for airline customers. "Collaborating with United provides clear benefits for all involved. United's operational expertise coupled with our knowledge of third-party training creates a better Airbus training option for everyone."
Capt. Brad Thomann, managing director - Flight Standards & Training, United, said the training offered at United will improve safety for the industry and allow customers to focus on the core business at hand - transporting valued customers to their destinations.
"For United, we get the added bonus of expanding our exposure to the marketplace by way of this agreement."
