United Services, The Advantage Group Reach Sales Agreement
on Dormant Tooling Inventory
United Continues to Streamline Operations
CHICAGO, IL - JANUARY 15, 2004 - As part of an agreement signed in November 2003, United Services is marketing dormant tools and equipment from United's San Francisco Maintenance Center through the efforts of United partner, The Advantage Group. This ongoing agreement represents another step forward in United's ongoing evolution as a leaner, more efficient business.
The partnership builds on a previous contractual arrangement between the two companies. "The Advantage Group's performance with the previous agreement was very strong, so they became a leading candidate in short order," says Jeff Leeds, senior account executive - Aircraft, Engine and Tooling Sales, United Services.
Under the terms of the agreement, United continues to identify all the surplus tooling and equipment at the maintenance center and system-wide, which the company then ships to The Advantage Group's 850-acre, 2.4 million-square-foot warehouse. From there, The Advantage Group is "consolidating surplus assets and selling them to the most appropriate worldwide customers," sharing the proceeds with United, says Neal Sherman, president and CEO of The Advantage Group. "I'm very excited to continue working with United. I think they're showing tremendous innovation in seeing the opportunity to create a return on surplus equipment."
"This is part of a proactive approach to getting our house in order and turning dormant assets into cash," says Leeds . The Advantage Group (TAG) is a Romulus, N.Y.-based company asset-disposition and supply-chain management solutions provider. Founded by Sherman , the company supports a variety of industries and manages more than $100 million in inventory annually and actively markets through a variety of sales platforms.
The Advantage Group uses several channels, including eBay, for disposing of assets and reaching buyers. "eBay is an extremely viable channel for helping third-party service providers such as The Advantage Group meet the asset disposition challenges of its clients," Sherman says. "We are pleased to work with United to sell their idle assets, utilizing the eBay platform to reach millions of potential buyers."
