CAUC Tooling

United Services continues its outreach to Chinese aviation with a donation of three surplus tools to Civil Aviation University-China (CAUC).

"The university is pretty sparse with the tools they have," says Jeff Leeds, director-Customer Service, United Services. The donated Tensiometer, HydroStatic checker, and Kit Transponder, while no longer usable on the line and set to be scrapped, can be used for instruction.

The one-time donation advances the goals of the Aviation Management Exchange (AME) program that United Services established nearly a decade ago with China. Leeds, who spearheaded that effort, says the program helps transfer to Chinese Airlines new options and practices for operating an airline. AME also hosts seminars for mid-level managers at Chinese Airlines and at the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC), the Chinese equivalent of the FAA.

CAUC is a United Services partner in the program, which includes participation by Boeing and graduate students from Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana.
